I am over moon with being awarded a commended in the Landscape category of this years Scottish Landscape Photographer Of The Year.
I was originally shortlisted with a chance for overall title winner with 3 images being chosen but to actually get in the book with any acknowledgement is a huge achievement for me and now gives me a full house of publications, after previously getting into Landscape Photographer Of The Year, International Garden Photographer Of The Year and Outdoor Photographer Of The Year. My image was taken on the Isle Of Skye towards the end of last year as we were making our way down to Elgol. It was Terry who suggested we stop the vehicle to get the cameras out and I reluctantly got out and started snapping away, so really I have him to thank for this. We timed it very well as just as we started shooting the light came over the hills and lit up the two trees in my image perfectly. Weather wise I think it was one of the best days we had on the trip so I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. The Isle Of Skye is a photographers dream, so many amazing locations to visit. We only had a few days there but I will definitely be going back to explore the rest of the Isle very soon. I took a lot of aerial video footage whilst there as I have been exploring the world of drone photography more and more recently and despite it being really windy and gloomy. My edited final footage can be seen here .
You can see Terry’s wonderful work on his website
The overall title winner was Nick Hanson, a truly deserving winner with some amazing images on his website.
